Course description |
This course provides students with the basic concept of information technology. This course is conducted in a computer room by utilizing computers. The topics of the course include effective methods and tools for eliciting, analyzing, discussing, and communicating information. In this course, both individual and group work assignments including the presentation are given; students will learn the information technology comprehensively through these processes. |
Expected Learning |
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to: - Recognize the pros and cons of the information society - Describe the meaning and need of the information literacy - Recognize the ethics in the information society and the importance of security so as to become neither victims nor perpetrators. - Visualize the data obtained from questionnaires or experiments by utilizing functions of spreadsheets and graphs supported by the spreadsheet software. - Describe your opinion and make presentation documents effectively by utilizing the presentation software. - Carry out the processes including the following sub-processes: (a)understanding other claims, (b)communicating with others, and (c)creating new claims. |

The plan of this course is as follows: The first week of this course is reserved for the orientation of for a freshman. Therfore, this course gets started from the second week. Students entering this class are assumed to have had basic skills and knowledge about using computers including starting/shutting down computers, typing keyboards, and managing files. |
