This course provides students with fundamentals of organic chemistry.

Learner who successfully complete this course will be able to:

Recognize the naming, properties, and reactions of aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and derivatives, and amines.
Describe related reactions of aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and derivatives, and amines.

Chapter 9 Aldehydes and Ketones: Nucleophilic Addition Reactions
Understanding the naming, properties, and reactions of aldehydes and ketones.

Chapter 10 Carboxylic Acids and Derivatives
Understanding the naming, properties, and reactions of carboxylic acids and derivatives.

Chapter 11 Carbonyl Alpha-Substitution Reactions and Condensation Reactions
Understanding the reaction mechanism and examples of carbonyl alpha-substitution reactions and condensation reactions.

Chapter 12 Amines
Understanding the naming, properties, and reactions of amines.
Prerequisites
It is desirable for students to have taken organic chemistry I and organic chemistry II.
