Course description |
Currently, plant molecular breeding using recombinant DNA technique is widely performed in the field of plant production. This technology was developed on the basis of molecular genetics. In this course, students will learn in detail about basic knowledge and technologies necessary to understand the technology. |
Expected Learning |
The goal of this course is that students will be able to understand the process of plant molecular breeding using recombinant DNA technique through the learning about molecular processes and control mechanisms of gene expression, structure of genes and genomes, and procedures of gene manipulation. |
Course schedule |
Unit 1: Guidance, Description of this lecture Unit 2: Basis of genetics, Structure and function of the gene Unit 3: Molecular processes of gene expression (1), Transcription of genetic information Unit 4: Molecular processes of gene expression (2), RNA processing Unit 5: Molecular processes of gene expression (3), Translation of genetic information Unit 6: Control mechanisms of gene expression (1), Regulation of genetic transcription Unit 7: Control mechanisms of gene expression (2), Regulation of genetic translation Unit 8: Control mechanisms of gene expression (3), Epigenetic regulation Unit 9: Molecular composition of plant genome, Structure of the nuclear and organelle genome Unit 10: Methods of manipulation of plant gene (1), Extraction and detection methods of nucleic acid (DNA and RNA) Unit 11: Methods of manipulation of plant gene (2), Cutting method of nucleic acid (DNA) Unit 12: Methods of manipulation of plant gene (3), Connection and amplification method of nucleic acid (DNA) Unit 13: Plant molecular breeding using recombinant DNA technique (1) Unit 14: Plant molecular breeding using recombinant DNA technique (2) Unit 15: Final examination |
