Course schedule
This class teaches basic presentation skills needed for any public speaking, including presentations in seminars and conferences. Students will write, memorize and present speeches to the class on a variety of topics relating to science and technology. Each assignment is longer and more complex as students build their skills and become more confident with speaking in front of a class in English. Emphasis in this class is on effective communication, not perfection.
- We will follow the textbook, focusing on creating the Physical, Visual and Story Message of a speech.
Prerequisites

Please bring dictionaries to all classes.
Assessment/Grading
Grades will be based on student speeches given throughout the semester. Students must attend at least 2/3 of the course in order to receive credit. However, because all assignments are graded based on in-class presentations, missing the performance days or not adequately preparing may also cause students to fail this class.
Final grade will be an average of project and test grades plus 15% for attendance and participation.
