Course description
You will learn basic overall skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) of Spanish based on the accurate lexical and grammatical knowledge of the language.
Expected Learning
1. Acquisition of the pronunciation, spelling, and meaning of the basic words and phrases.
2. Acquisition of the infinite and present form of the basic verbs.
3. Rudimentary oral and reading/writing skills in communication such as greetings, self-introduction, description, question and answer, and request.
4. General knowledge on the Hispanic world.
Course schedule
1 Guidance、Lesson 1:Alphabet
2 Lessons 1-2:Pronunciation, accent and number, gender and number of nouns,
3 Lesson 2:Articles, number, etc.
4 Lesson 3:Personal pronouns、verb “ser”, etc.
5 Lesson 3:Verbs “estar”, “hay”, interrogative sentense
6 Lesson 4:Short exam, possessive adjectives and pronouns, telling time
7 Lesson 4-5:Nationality, prepositions, regular verbs
8 Lesson 5:Interrogative sentense, conjunctions, etc.
9 Lesson 6:Root-changing verbs etc.
10 Lesson 6:Short exam, direct objective pronouns, etc.
11 Lesson 7:Irregular verbs, verb ”ir” etc.
12 Lesson 7:Indirect objective pronouns, etc.
13 Lesson 8:Verb “gustar”, etc.
14 Lesson 8:Telling weather, ordinal number, etc.
15 Final exam.
Prerequisites
It is desirable to take classes of “Spanish for Beginners II” and “Intermediate Spanish” to acquire comprehensively the basic skill of the language.

Assessment/Grading
Final exam 70%
Class participation and mini-tests 30%.
Students absent more than five times are not qualified to take the final exam.
