Course description |
This class is a seminar-type lesson for the first-year students on a proper theme given by each professor of the class. Through this class, students are required to acquire how to recognize specified issues and learn them on their own initiative. Furthermore, they are also required to develop their abilities on reading and expression as well as communication. |

Course schedule |
We are daily surrounded by a great many organic compounds, which are involved in our life to a greater or lesser extent. They include natural and synthetic or anthropogenic compounds, among which we find useful or profitable property as well as harmful or toxic property for life on the earth. In this class, in accordance with the theme of "organic compounds familiar to our daily life", students will study and have a proper understanding on an organic compounds that they have specified interest. They are also requires to estimate favorable or harmful influence of the compound on on life and environment. A seminar will be assigned to each student to present their study or investigation. Active discussion or debate is expected by other students and the instructor of this class. |

Assessment/Grading |
Attendance to seminars is essential. Absence of three times or more of seminars, credits will be not allowed. Active discussion in seminars is necessary for better grade in evaluation in addition to full presentation. |
