Course description |
This course is going to mainly talk about two issues. The first one is how environmental sociology approaches to the life of regional community and environmental issues to which it has been paying attention. The second one is what kind of achievements have environmental sociology made on it. |
Expected Learning |
Students are supposed to acquire the basic knowledge and thinking of environmental sociology, as well as master the researching and analyzing methods when they are actually to be in a field through studying specific cases of environmental problems and environmental use. Meanwhile, students are also expected to understand the difference between “the perspective of insect” and “the perspective of bird” on the level of epistemology. |
Course schedule |
1. Introduction――Distance to the subject (Preparation: confirm the syllabus.) 2. “My village”――A monograph on environmental history (Preparation: read the materials distributed the week before.) 3. The principle of environmental pollution (Group activity: to divide class into different groups for the preparation of group presentation (the sixth week).Meanwhile students are supposed to collect materials for the presentation basing on lectures.) 4. Theory of the Social Structure of Victimization and “the perspective of insect” (Group activity: continue to collect materials for group presentation.) 5. Environmental pollution and future of the regional areas (Group activity: students prepare to present by analyzing materials gathered already.) 6. Presentation by groups 1(human and modern technologies) (Review: To summarize what you have learned from the other groups) 7. Nature as Commons (Group activity: to divide class into different groups for the preparation of group presentation (the eleventh week).Meanwhile students are supposed to collect materials for the presentation basing on lectures.) 8. Social dilemma (Group activity: continue to collect materials for group presentation.) 9. Regional experiences and the building of mutual agreement (Group activity: continue to collect materials for group presentation.) 10. Modern ecriture and “the perspective of insect” (Group activity: students prepare to present by analyzing materials gathered already.) 11. Presentation by groups 2(human and nature) (Review: To summarize what you have learned from the other groups) 12. Natural and artificial――To “plant” a scenery (Review: to explore your concern or interest deeply basing on lectures before towards the term-end test.) 13. Homeland and future of regional areas (Review: to explore your concern or interest deeply basing on lectures before towards the term-end test.) 14. Summary――Pile stones up (Review: to explore your concern or interest deeply basing on lectures before towards the term-end test.) 15. The term-end written test ※ PS: Above contents may be changed. |

To assess from three parts as below. 1. The result of term-end test based on lectures【50 points】2. Presentation by groups【25 points】3. Response paper etc.【25 points】. The result of last year (2016) was distributed as S(22%),A(40%),B(20%),C(4%),D(9%),E(4%). |
