Course description
You must complete the units "French Grammar 1" and "French Grammar 2" to have a total understanding of French Grammar.
Expected Learning
After successfully completing the units "French Grammar 1" and "French Grammar 2", you wiil be ablet to :
1) use simple phrases used in daily life
2) pronounce correctly words
3) understand the functions of articles, and use them correctly
4) look up the infinitive, the meaning, and the usage of a verb in a dictionary
5) look up the meaning and the usage of a noun in a dictionary
6) read a text written in present tense
7) have a concrete notion of French and culture of Frenc-speaking countries
Course schedule
Week 1: Guidance; alphabet; prounciation(1)
Week 2: Pronounciations (2); Genders and plurals of nouns ; indefinite articles;
Week 3: Partial articles ; definite articles ; Voici, Voila / C'est, Ce sont / Il y a
Week 4: Subject personal pronouns ; Present tenses of the regular verbs -er, -ir, interrogatives
Week 5: Present tenses of the verb "etre" and "avoir" ; negatives ; answers to interrogatives
Week 6: determiners ; Positions of adjectives, feminine adjectives (1) ; plural : special form of plural of indefinite article placed before plural adjective
Week 7: Present tense of the irregular verbs "aller", "venir" ; contraction of the prepositions "a" and "de" and definite articles ; feminine adjectives (2) ; interrogative adjectives
Week 8: Present tense of the irregular verbs "faire", "prendre", "mettre", "attendre", imperatives ; possessive adjectives
Week 9: Present tense of the irregular verbs "partir", "pouvoir", "devoir", comparatives and superlatives of adjectives and adverbs
Week 10: special forms of comparatives and superlatives ; present tense of the irregular verbs "voir", "savoir", "dire", "recevoir"
Week 11: Past participle ; compound past(1)
Week 12: Compound past (2)
Week 13: Relative pronouns ; interrogative pronouns
Week 14: Past participle changed in accordance with subjective pronouns or direct objects
