Course description
Sports & Physical Activity (Practical) make a positive contribution to the total wellbeing of individuals. This course provides the knowledge and understanding of the value of activity, increased levels of fitness and competency in a wide variety of sports and recreation contexts and skills for those planning to be active.
These and other aspects of the course enable students to adopt and maintain an active lifestyle at TUAT. The benefits include a more profound knowledge of sports and physical activity by positive psychological and social outcomes that characterize quality of life.
Expected Learning
Sports & Physical Activity (Practical) students will select one class and develop:
‐The ability to plan and apply adequate methods that promote health, physical activity and enhanced sports skills .
‐Extend their knowledge and understanding of the factors that influence health and participation in physical activity.
‐An understanding of the safety arrangements, potential dangers, rules and regulation in activities and/or games.
Course schedule
Students should attend the orientation in the first week. You can then choose one among the arranged classes. In this year (2015), arranged classes are following:
Class 1: Prellball - Bound Tennis - Volleyball -
Class 2: Basketball - Soccer - Ultimate frisbee
Class 3: Soft Lacrosse - Futsal
Each class has a fixed number of participants. If a class reaches the number, the students will be assigned to another class.

Attend the class specified by your department.

None. Print and distribute as necessary.

Read books on health promotion and/or fitness and exercise.
Assessment/Grading
Evaluation standards (Grade: S=90-100%, A=80-89%, B=70-79%, C=60-69%, D=59% & below) are determined from the sum (100 percent possible) of the following three criteria:
1. Attendance (worth up to 40 percent); each unexcused absence (up to three times) will result in a one-letter grade deduction from your final grade.
2. Skill Improvement (worth up to 30 percent); your grade will be based on how well you improve your own or another’s skill and performance.
3. Participation policy (worth up to 30 percent); the following will positively affect your final grade:
Make voluntary efforts, keep things safe for yourself and other students, appropriately demonstrate your exercise ability.

Remarks 1
All students should have sports shoes and gym-specific shoes. Proper clothing and shoes should be worn to allow for easy movement and good traction on each surface.
