Course description |
"Mechanics" is one of the most fundamental subjects for students in science and engineering courses. Students will learn about the Newton’s law and apply the law, at the start, to motion of one particle such as oscillatory motion of pendulums, and then apply the law to “system of particles” such as rotational motion of rigid bodies. |
Expected Learning |
1. Be able to explain the Newton’s law and to apply the law to projectile motion and oscillatory motion of particles 2. Be able to explain kinetic energy, potential, and relation between angular momentum and torque 3. Be able to calculate the motion of center of mass and relative motions of two interacting particles 4. Be able to solve problems about motion of rigid bodies. |

Message from instructor(s) |
In the course, you will note that motion of all the objects, including apples on the earth and planets, is described by one common law, that is the Newton’s law. |
