Course description
Mathematics is a powerful tool to understand and explain physical phenomena. In this course, students will learn the fundamental mathematics necessary for physics. Students must take both lecture and exercise courses.
Expected Learning
1. Students will be able to understand that mathematics is a powerful and necessary tool for physics.
2. Students will be able to apply mathematics to understanding and explaining physical phenomena.
Course schedule
Week 1: Partial differential, Derivative of a composite function, Taylor expansion
Week 2: Complex number, Euler’s formula
Week 3: First-order linear ordinary differential equation
Week 4: Second-order linear ordinary differential equation
Week 5: Application of differential equation for physics
Week 6: Inner (scalar) product and Outer (vector) product of vectors
