Course description |
In this course, we will study the definition and properties of the Fourier series and the Fourier transform. As an application, we will learn how to solve wave equations and heat equations |
Expected Learning |
The goal of this course are 1. to be able to compute the Fourier series of functions, 2. to understand how to find the Fourier transform of functions, and 3. to be capable of performing Fourier series and Fourier transform on solving partial differential equations. |
Course schedule |
1. Fourier series 2. Fourier sine series and cosine series 3. Complex form of Fourier series 4. Definition of Fourier transform 5. Integral formula 6. Properties of Fourier transform 7. Fourier transform of multi-valuable function 8. Convolution 9. Midterm examination 10. Heat equation 11. Initial value problem and boundary value problem 12. Wave equation 13.
