Course description
This course deals with important properties of natural language and some aspects of linguistic theories so that students majoring in computer sciences will have basic knowledge about natural languages and language faculty of human beings.
Expected Learning
Students taking this course are expected to:
1. understand characteristics of the Japanese language compared with other languages,
2. understand the history of modern linguistics,
3. know the basic ideas and methods of subfields of linguistics,
4. learn how to analyze linguistic data.
