Course description |
Antibodies play a central role in acquired immunity and are also used in several research fields from biochemical reagents to molecularly targeted drugs. Students will learn about structure, function, and diversity of immune molecules mainly antibodies, and also learn about their engineering application. |
Expected Learning |
Students can learn why antibodies have been widely used from their structure and function, what is the necessary requirement for their application as drugs, and how to design their desired structures. |
Course schedule |
Lecture 1: Basic immunity - acquisition immunity and antibody - Lecture 2: Antibody structure, diversity, and application Lecture 3: Follow-up - Immunity and antibody - Lecture 4: Obtaining and preparation of antibodies Lecture 5: Measurements using antibodies Lecture 6: Intermediate examination Lecture 7: Antibody engineering - humanized antibody, catalytic antibody - Lecture 8: Immunoengineering - chimeric antigen receptor, modified cytokine - Lecture 9: Small antibodies and antibody-like molecules Lecture 10: Conjugated antibody and fused antibody Lecture 11: Biosimilar Lecture 12: Development of next-generation cancer therapeutic antibodies Lecture 13: Affinity maturation of antibody Lecture 14: Final examination Lecture 15: Development of biologicals - patent, manufacturing, clinical trial- |
