Course description
This course is designed for students who are specializing in Information Communications Technology. It aims to develop students’ English ability in all four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The course focuses on topics related to information technology and provides students with useful vocabulary building exercises and grammar practice.
Expected Learning
In order to pass this course, students should have:
1. Acquired knowledge of technical terminology related covered in the course;
2. Demonstrated understanding and correct usage of English grammar studied in the course;
3. Participated actively in class activities using English to the best of their ability.

2. Living in a Digital Age: discussing what computers do; basic computer terms; collocations
3. Computer Essentials: describing a diagram; basic hardware/software terms; classifying
4. Inside the System: describing a PC system; specifications; units of memory; relative clauses
5. Type, Click and Talk: describing input devices; describing functions and features
7. Capture Images: facts vs. opinions; superlatives; suffixes
Choosing a Printer: multi-function printers; connectors; comparatives
8. Review / Communication Activity
9. Midterm Exam
10. Magnetic Storage: data protection; magnetic storage types; precautions; word building
11. Optical Storage: optical discs & drives; types of optical storage; connectors
12. Flash Memory: describing flash drives; technical details of flash memory; word building
13. The Operating System (OS): GUI operating systems; comparing user interfaces; countable and uncountable nouns; articles (a, an, the)
13. The Internet & E-mail: Internet basics; email features; Wh-question forms
