Course description |
This lecture will be offered by intensive lecturers, Prof. Hiroaki Shinohara (Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Tokyo University of Agriculture) and Prof. Shuichi Otari (Meiji University Faculty of Agriculture). Professor Hiroaki Shinohara June 9 (Fri): "Recent Topics on Phytopathogenic Bacteria" As part of efforts to control plant bacterial diseases, I will discuss on clarification of bacterial flora inhabiting plants, biological control utilizing them, biological control utilizing useful plants as a rootstock, and drug susceptibility of phytopathogenic bacteria. Professor Shuichi Ohrisato Friday, June 23 "Development of pathogenic mutation mechanism of filamentous fungi and genome rearrangement technology" We focus on DNA homologous recombination reactions related to genome stability of rice blast fungus and outline several basic technologies for understanding pathogenic mutation mechanism of rice blast fungus and development of new mutation suppression technology. About the development of genome rearranging technology to create disease resistant plants, I introduce past research cases using rice, torenia and tobacco and consider current situation and issues. |
Expected Learning |
Students are expected to acquire knowledge about the latest plant pathology and organisms-organisms interactions. |
