Course description

In Japan, human population decreasing especially in satochi-satoyama, which caused decaying in forestry and agriculture, while, sika deer and wild boar has been increasing their number, which caused serious damages to agriculture, forestry and ecosystems. In this lecture, I would focus on hunting as a tool of wildlife management and evaluated the role of hunting as sustainable wildlife management and discuss how we establish new wildlife management system in Japan under drastically decreasing hunter population.

Expected Learning
