Course description |
These lectures will discuss (1) the structures of rivers and paddy fields and the characteristics of the ecosystems therein, (2) the influence of human activities such as river improvement on the ecosystems and the conservation and restoration of the ecosystems, and (3) example of water bodies that were improved using an eco-friendly construction method, with the lecturer leading a group of students to experience maintenance activities to these. |

Course schedule |
Lecture 1. River structures and characteristics of river ecosystems Lecture 2. Influence of human activities on river ecosystems and the conservation and restoration of these ecosystems Lecture 3. Paddy field structures and characteristics of the paddy field ecosystems Lecture 4. Influence of human activities on paddy field ecosystems and the conservation and restoration of these ecosystems Lectures 1-4 will constitute an intensive course and will be conducted on October 31. Lectures 5-7. Field work Lectures 5-7 will be field work and will conducted on November 8. The time and place of these lectures and items to be brought will be announced in the intensive course. |
Prerequisites |
Non. Students who are affiliated with a graduate school of agriculture can attend this lecture. However, they need to have student insurance. |

Lecture 1-4 will be conducted visually through figures and photographs to facilitate easy comprehension concepts. For lectures 5-7, the lecturer will lead a group of students on field work to understand the actual conditions of the water bodies that were improved using an eco-friendly construction method. |
