Course description |
Learn the basics of band structure of semiconducting materials and then browse the principle structures and characterization methods of semiconductor devices. |
Expected Learning |
Gain quantum mechanical understanding of electronic structure of solid, and principle understanding of semiconductor devices. |

1. Fundamental quantum mechanics 2. Bound electrons and tunneling effect 3. Kronig Penney model and band structure 4. Band structure viewed in terms of chemical bonds 5. Brillouin zone and three-dimensional band structure 6. Fermi-Dirac distribution and density of state 7. Effective mass of electron 8. Classical and quantum descriptions of conductivity 9.
