This course treats
1. Review of Electromagnetism
2. Introduction of quantum mechanics
3. What is magnetic moment?
4. Expression of magnetic moment by quantum mechanics
5. Curie Weiss's law.
6. Mean field approximation
Expected Learning
You will be able to understand expression of magnetic moment by electromagnetism and quantum mechanics. Then, you will be able to understand the basic principle of magnetism "Curie Weiss's law", and "Mean field approximation".
Course schedule
1st, and 2nd.: Introduction and Reviewing Electromagnetism.
3rd, and 4th. Electric and Magnetic dipole moment, and angular momentum
5th, and 6th: Introduction of quantum mechanics, Bohr model, wave equation.
7th, and 8th: Angular momentum
9th, and 10th: Wavefunctions of hydrogen-like atoms
11th, and 12th: Curie Weiss' law
13th, and 14th: Mean field approximation
15th. Summary
