Course description
It is a class for the students to learn the basic practice of the patent system. We will use a famous novel as a text book, such as the Naoki Prize novel "Rocket in downtown" authored by "Jun Ikeido". The reason why we use the novel is that you can learn the patent system with in the virtual situation.
In the novel, "Tsukuda Seisakujo" (hereinafter “Tsukuda”), a small entity engine manufacturer located in downtown Tokyo has come up. Tsukuda has obtained some patents, and one of those is a patent of engine valves. Over this patent, the extremely muddy offense and defense with various companies including Tsukuda are developed. In the class, we will discuss the meaning of the patent in question from individual company’s direction.
I will ask the students many questions about the mattes, not asking about the knowledge of the patent system. I would like to know your own opinions or feelings regarding the patent fights going on in the novel and to give you some advice and my opinions about the same. I will aim at having you learn knowledge with the merit and the demerit of obtaining patents. The students should know that the class is not the one for the purpose of finding out the only correct answer whether it may exist.
Therefore, students should notice that the novel mentioned above has to be taken in each class for your reference.
In addition, I am planning to invite three guest speakers in each lesson. Two of the speakers are from Japanese famous big companies, and the rest is from a Japanese venture company.
I am sure that you will have interesting and exciting time in the class, Come and join us!
