Course description |
This course provides basic theories and one-day training of charcoal making. Participants learn how to make charcoal (biochar) from bamboo and agricultural residues, then, share and exchange the ideas how to use charcoal for agricultural development and environmental conservation in participants' countries. |
Expected Learning |
1) To understand the basic knowledge and skills of charcoal making. 2) to exchange ideas for improving agriculture and environment in home countries. |

1. Agrowaste and local biomass 2. Pit kiln: Making charcoal from bamboo and mulberry branches 3. Drum kiln and Iwate kiln: Structure and working process 4. Chimney-standing device for making rice husk/sawdust charcoal 5. Challenges for smoke-less charcoal making. 6. (Lecture) TUAT's Charcoal Project in Vietnam 7-8. (Discussion) How can we apply charcoal technology for rural livelihoods and environmental conservation? |
