Course description
Concentrations of chemical species, i.e., ions, in aqueous solutions depend on other ions, temparature and so on, then analysis of aqueous solution require. In the course "water" and "aqueous solution" which are important factor to consider material cycle in environment are explained from the perspective of physical chemistry and analytical chemistry including basic theomodynamics, ion strength, chamical equilibrium, acid and base, and oxidation-reduction reaction.
Expected Learning
Learners will understand some phenomena that binary olutions are mixing or not, and a salt dissolute in water or not by using basic thermodynamics.
Learners will be able to calculate solute concentration in aqueous solution using chemical equilibrium including physical constants i.e., acid/base dissociation, standard electric potential and adsorption..
Course schedule
In the first half, mixing and solution of water, binary solution and solute-solution are studies by using basic thermodynamics. And then, chemical equilibrium including acid-base, reduction and adsorption will be lectured.
