Course description
To understand plant photosynthetic production under changing environment,
especially effect of elevated CO2, O3 N and biological stresses on photosynthesis and allocation
Expected Learning
To comprehensive understanding photosynthetic production and allocation of photosynthates in woody species under changing environment based on the classic theory of plant ecology. Based on the article in Science (2000), we should understand the meaning of biodiversity conservation. Finally we will understand leaf level photosynthesis affected by increasing CO2, O3 and high nitrogen loading.
Course schedule
For this schedule, the hand-made note will be prepared and show how to study based on my note and literatures.
1 Forest rehabilitation under changing environment and forest history in Japan
(Guideline and method for studying and orientation based on slides)
2 Environmental and anthropogenic factors affecting on vegetation in Japan
Larcher’ text (L): Chapter (Chap)1,
3 Photosynthetic production (biochemical analysis, shade tolerant) L-Chap2
4 Allocation of photosynthates (regulation, plant defense, and GDB hypothesis) L-Chap2, 5
5 Combination effects of CO2, O3 and N on photosynthetic production (symbiosis) L-Chap 1, 6
6 Xylem structure and water relations L-Chap 4
7 Nitrogen dynamics and cycling L-Chap 3
