Course description
This course provides students assay procedure for zoonosis and environmental hygienics. This practical training will teach students techniques to diagnosis of zoonosis and examination of air and drinking water.
Expected Learning
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:
1) examination for diagnosis of zoonosis and analysis of epidemiologocal data for infection
2) examination for analysis of air and water regime
Course schedule
(1) Explanation of biosafety regulation
(2) Determination of viable count using standard plate and coliform bacteria count by MPN
(3) Examination for drinking water
(4) Visit of Public health research laboratory for the examination of drinking water
(5) Visit of sewage plant
(6) Air analysis (Air temperature, humidity and Gas concentration)
(7) Diagnosis of zoonosis I (pathogen detection by PCR)
(8) Diagnosis of zoonosis II (isolation and idensitication of pathogen)
(9) Molecular epidemiology of zoonosis
(10) Epidemiology of zoonosis
Prerequisites
Students must wear a white coat and footwear for laboratory. Do not enter and exit laboratory without reasonable excuse. Review of practice of microbiology, practice of epizootiology and Public Health I is needed.
