Course Outline: This course aims to help students learn the basic structure of an English paragraph. |
Expected Learning |
Objectives: ・ Students should learn the function of a topic sentence and how to write a paragraph. ・ Students should learn to use appropriate words, transitions and structures to write clearly and effectively. ・ Students should submit 3 to 5 assignments of paragraph writing, of around 100 to 200 words in length. It is recommended that students submit first and final drafts of each assignment. |

Here is the table of contents of the textbook. Part One: How to Write a Paragraph Chapter 1: What Is a Paragraph? Chapter 2: Listing Chapter 3: Examples Chapter 4: Cause and Effect Chapter 5: Effect and Cause Chapter 6: Comparison Chapter 7: Contrast Chapter 8: Classification Chapter 9: Analysis Chapter 10: Definition Chapter 11: Process Chapter 12: Problem-Solution Chapter 13: Reasons Chapter 14: Time Order Chapter 15: Space Order Chapter 16: Opinion Chapter 17: Analogy Part Two: How to Write an Essay Chapter 18: Essay (1) Chapter 19: Essay (2) Chapter 20: Summary Besides the tasks given in the textbook, you are to write a total of four paragraphs. We use e-learning system "Moodle" for various tasks. There is no final exam. You are to take G-TELP test somewhere in the class. |
