| The course contains widely from ray performances to high voltage devices including two ranges of science and technology and mainly explains performance and technique resulting from high voltage phenomena. |

Week 1 Introduction to high voltage engineering. Objectives: content, teaching method Week 2 Basic process of electric discharge. Objectives: understand particle collision, excitation and ionization. Week 3 Gaseous discharge (1). Objectives: understand discharge phenomenon in gas, Townsend theory and Streamer theory. Week 4 Gaseous discharge (2). Objectives: understand Paschen's low, lightning discharge, electronegative gases. Week 5 Steady-state gas discharge. Objectives: understand glow discharge, arc discharge. Week 6 Discharge in liquids and solid. Objectives: understand electric conduction and breakdown in liquids and solid. Week 7 Discharge in composite dielectrics. Objectives: understand triple junction, surface discharge, void discharge, treeing. Week 8 Review of first half. Week 9 High voltage generating method. Objectives: understand Cockcroft-Walton circuit, Marx circuit. Week 10 High-voltage measurement method. Objectives: understand instrument transformer, Pockels sensor, Faraday sensor. Week 11 High voltage equipment (1). Objectives: understand insulator, bushing. Week 12 High voltage equipment (2). Objectives: understand underground cable, switchgear, GIS. Week 13 High voltage equipment (3). Objectives: understand surge arrester, power transformer. Week 14 High voltage analysis method. Objectives: understand numerical calculation methods. Week 15 Summarization. |
