Date: Friday, July 13 Title: Gene expression in the mitochondria of plants and possibility of plant breeding using genome editing. Instructor: Prof. Nobuya Koizuka (Tamagawa Univ.) New knowledge is provided about structure of genome and gene expression in plant mitochondria. In this lecture, these knowledge is reviewed and explained. Then, the mechanism of cytoplasmic male sterility related with mitochondrial genome is discussed. In addition, the method of plant breeding using the genome editing is explained and the future of this technology will be discussed. |
