Course description
This lecture has two main objectives. To acquire academic and presentation skills to write, speak and discuss logically as a science researcher. We learn how to make logical composition and language operation in both Japanese and English during the entire classes. The second purpose is to understand "English" communication as a global language, deeply understand the way of global communication and lead to practice. To enhance your presentation skills in English, we emphasize the training of "spoken language" operation ability such as pronunciation, accent, intonation and rhythm of each student, and will lead to deeper mutual understanding and mutual action. Active participation and practices are required.
Expected Learning
Students are required to achieve the following three issues through lectures.
1) Learn logical arguments and composition of sentences in Japanese and English, acquire written comprehension and presentation skills.
2) Improve English ability necessary to achieve 1). Especially strengthen spoken English ability.
3) Improve the ability of "cross-cultural communication" not only to acquire skills but also to "understanding others from different backgrounds".
Course schedule
The level guidance of the student and the level of the student's voice are checked in the first lesson. To ensure bidirectional communication of understanding and conduct better discussions, give guidance such as pronunciation of the participants and presentation attitudes.
Lesson plan
Part 1: Purpose of course and explanation, student's English level check etc.
2nd - 15th: Small tasks are given each time, individually or as a group work. Individual presentation is required as a final task.
