| Course description |
| There are various kinds of relationships between humans and animals. Also, there are many approaches to study them. In this course, students learn the features of relationships between humans and companion animals from psychological perspectives, and discuss the symbiosis of humans and animals. |

| Students will be able to read academic books in English and understand the overview of research on relationships between humans and animals. |

Students choose chapters in the following 2 books and read them by turns. The responsible chapters are assigned in class. The Behavioural Biology of Dogs (ed. P. Jensen) ISBN-13: 978-1845931872 The Psychology of the Human-Animal Bond: A Resource for Clinicians and Researchers (eds. C. Blazina, G. Boyraz & D. Shen-Miller) ISBN-13: 978-1441997609 Students read the assigned chapters and prepare the resume in advance, and make a presentation in class. Students understand the contents and discuss them. At the same time, students also learn research methodology. |
