Course description
Metal-catalyzed reactions serves as powerful synthetic methods and applied industrially to the synthesis of a variety of synthetic intermediates and polymer materials. This course will provide basic knowledge in metal complexes (especially organometallic complexes) and application of the complexes to catalytic reactions.
Expected Learning
Students will acquire the knowledge for general properties of metal complexes, elementary reactions of them, and a variety of catalytic reactions where they play an important role.
Course schedule
・Chemical bonds in organometallic compounds
・Elementary reactions of organometallic complexes
・Catalytic reactions with alkenes and alkynes as substrates
・Catalytic Carbonylation
・Catalytic Oxidation and allylation
・Cross-coupling reactions with transition-metal catalysis
・Catalytic functionalization of unactivated bonds
・Catalytic reactions with metal complexes as Lewis acids
Prerequisites
The lectures will be given on the basis that you understand organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and physical chemistry for undergraduate students.
Required Text(s) and Materials
This course uses the handouts which will be put on Moodle. You should download, print out, and bring it.
