Course description
The purpose of this course is to enhance students' ability of reading, listening and presentation skills for research activities. Students are expected to learn text structures, grammatical structures and expressions in academic Japanese, to develop their presentation better on scientific topics. The course includes group work and activities to share their thoughts and experiences in Japanese.
Expected Learning
1. To acquire reading, listening and presentation skills for research activities
2. To understand text structures, grammatical structures and expressions in academic Japanese.
3. To develop their presentation skills on scientific topics.
Competency development: Basic listening skills, Basic reading skills, Basic Presentation skills
Course schedule
1. Listening short conversations in the specific situations
2. Listening practice for JLPT N3
3. Listening and reading short stories on general topics
4. Conversation on the topics related to the listening practice
5. Study planning and advising for JLPT
6. Learning basic expressions and structures for academic presentations
7. Making slides and scripts for the presentation
8. Oral practice to speak effectively
9. Giving short presentations
10. Feedback session on the presentation

You re recommended to prepare for, and revise, the classes pending approximately 3 hours for each class.
