Course description
This course is divided into two sub-courses: "Policy Proposal (China Program)" and "Policy Proposal (Domestic Program)". Students need to select either of them.


China Program: Koki Toyota and Hisako Umemura
Domestic Program: Yoko Ichijo


In both sub-courses, professionals in the government, municipals, NPO/NGOs, or international organizations will provide platforms for understanding the real needs of the society as well as for considering the research goals, outreach to the public, and the applications of the research into practice. Students will also learn overall procedures of policy proposal practically through field survey, discussions, presentations, and the report making.

In "Policy Proposal I&II (China Program)", students should take both I and II.
In "Policy Proposal I&II (Domestic Program)", students who wish to take either I or II should consult with the instructor.
Expected Learning
- Understand the roles of public policies
- Consider how to apply one’s own research to the real world through lectures and fieldwork
- Propose a policy based on field surveys and logical thinking
- Learn procedures for proposing a policy
