Course description |
Intensive lecture style (2 times) Opening schedule: The first: September 4, 2019 3rd to 6th periods The second: September 11, 2019 3rd to 6th periods This course describes the principles of the gene function analysis (expression suppression and overexpression) using gene recombination, and discusses their application in plant self-defense research, as an example the plant self-protection studies. |
Expected Learning |
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to: (1) understand the principle of gene function analysis method of plants. (2) learn best practices for responding to unexpected situations in the research site. Corresponding criteria in the Diploma Policy: See the Curriculum maps. (URL: https://www.tuat.ac.jp/campuslife_career/campuslife/policy/ ) |
Course schedule |
The first 1) Plant transformation and genetically modified crops 2) Efficient expression of foreign genes in plants and measures for gene silencing (Problems, solutions, somehow related to self-protection) The second 3) Gene function analysis using overexpression / repression of expression (Mainly on disease injury stress signal pathways of plants) 4) Genome editing as new crop breeding technology (NBT) |
