Course description
Regarding typical organic contaminants, their chemical structures, chemical properties, distributions, environmental behaviors, and adverse biological effects are lectured. General rules of behaviors of organic contaminants which are controlled by source characteristics and properties (i.e., volatility, hydrophobicity, degradability) of the contaminants are explained by generalized way and specified way through various specific cases of the individual classes of contaminants. Monitoring and study approaches and the results are provided.
Expected Learning
To understand chemical structures, chemical properties, distributions, environmental behaviors, and adverse biological effects of typical organic contaminants.
To understand general rules where behaviors of organic contaminants are controlled by source characteristics and properties (i.e., volatility, hydrophobicity, degradability).
