Course description

This course deal with the relationship between human and nature from former side. Main focuses of this course are on private gardens and public parks, including urban and nature ones, and history and relevant laws/systems will be lectured.

Course schedule

Following subjects will be lectured. 1. History of Japanese gardens 2. History of gardens in other countries 3. Planning, construction, and management of private gardens 4. Laws and systems on urban parks 5. National parks outside Japan: history and systems 6. National parks in Japan: history and systems 7. Methods and purpose of greening 8. Surgical operations for tree: practical methods and histories

Prerequisites

In addition to the lecture time, students are required to learn lecture materials, international journal publications, reports issued by international organizations, and reference books to conduct self-learning before and after the class.
