Course description |
The purpose of the general veterinary internal medicine is to introduce basic concepts of internal medicine practice. The topics are categorized into a compulsory subject in a model core curriculum of veterinary medicine, and in a range of possible question in VetCBT (computer-based testing) and national board exam of veterinary licence. The topics include informed consent, medical interview, physical examination, medical record and clinical laboratory tests as well as general concepts of hematology, clinical immunology, metabolic diseases, toxicology, endocrinology, dermatology, urology, clinical nutrition and ophthalmology possibly questioned in VetCBT. Students are encouraged to study through handouts containing important points in the reference textbook. |
Expected Learning |
The goal of this seminar is to understand the overall procedures of internal medicine practice and to study the practical approach and knowledge of the practice based on logical combinations of the topics introduced in the seminar. Prerequisites |
This is part of Courses of Small Animal Internal Medicine and a compulsory subject in Cooperative Department of Veterinary Medicine. In addition to the period that students spend in the class, students are recommended to prepare for and revise the lectures, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University and using the lecture handouts as well as the references specified below. |

Assessment/Grading |
Examination 100%. Students who attend >two thirds of the lectures will be able to sit on the term-end exam, and obtain >60% of scores in the exam will earn the credit. Students who will not fulfill the above criteria will not be allowed to sit on the additional exam. |
