Course description |
This course aims to develop listening, grammar and reading skills with TOEFL-ITP, which is a test for non-native learners of English who want to enter universities especially in the United States. Through the TOEFL exercises, students are expected to gain knowledge of English for academic purposes, which will be indispensable for their academic research. They will also learn about college life in other countries. This course is mandatory for first-year students as an introduction to the English curriculum of the University. |
Expected Learning |
Objectives (Integrated English) 1) Students will be exposed to listening, grammar and reading with academic topics. 2) Students will gain the skills to understand conversations and lectures, understand the structure of academic English, and read passages about various academic topics 3) Students will learn about how these skills are combined with other skills such as writing and speaking, and how to integrate them for their future academic activities. Prerequisites |
This course carries 1 credit. In addition to 30 hours that students spend in the class, students are recommended to study independently with Academic Express 3, an e-learning system available outside the university, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the University. All students on this course are expected to take the TOEFL-ITP test at the end of June. Also students must attend at least 2/3 of the course in order to receive credit. If you are late for the class twice, it will be counted as one time of absence. |
