Course description
Based on elementary grammar and reading, this course is designed to develop a higher level of proficiency in translation or written communication.
Emphasis is on intercultural Understanding in German.

This course is offered to advance students' intercultural understanding applying the knowledge and skills acquired in German I and II.
Expected Learning
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:
1. read and write high level German text with the aid of a dictionary.
2. understand and explain German culture.

Prerequisites
Students are requested to take "German Ⅰ・Ⅱ" .
Text of grammar and dictionary are needed.
Students are recommended to spend 45 minutes in preparing for each class, and another 45 minutes in completing assignments and revising the class.

Students are instructed to purchase a textbook in COOP.
References
Dictionaries and other reading materials are suggested in the first class.
Assessment/Grading
After having participated in class for one full semester regularly (40%) and after having passed the final exam (60%) students are entitled to obtain a certificate at the end of the course.
