Course description |
What is society? How can we understand society? This Course introduces the foundations of sociology to students taking this course. We examine how the common-sense created, how the various cultures related, and how our lives constructed, from the sociological point of view. In this course, I’ll give you a participative lecture, discussions between classmates, and short papers to assist you in studying sociology: 1. Develop an understanding of what society is 2. Know characteristics of Japanese society from the perspective of a nonnative 3. Motivate students toward self-directed learning This course is offered as one of the Humanities and Social Sciences courses of the Global Liberal Arts Studies. |

Prerequisites |
This course requires 30 hours (2 hours×15 times). Articles distributed each time and reference books are available for preparing and reviewing this class of up to 1 hour of each. In addition to the activities described above, student are recommended to spend the standard amount of time as specified by the University to complete the studies of this course. |
