Course description |
Students will read simple contexts in Chinese to review the intro-level grammars from Chinese for BeginnersⅠfrom previous semester and acquire intermediate vocabularies and grammars. Listening skills will be another focus and improved by articles with intro-level vocabularies. Additionally, in order to deepen understanding to Chinese culture, various subjects related to course materials will also be touched upon and explained in a simple and intriguing way. |
Expected Learning |
Able to read and apprehend simple texts in Chinese and predict the meaning by guessing the meanings from the contexts. Able to understand simple conversations in Chinese. Able to pass Chuken test of level 4. |

Assessment/Grading |
Attendance will be taken in every class. Grading will be based on final exam as well as papers (60%) and average performance (attendance rate, mid-term, preparation for class beforehand, practice during class and homework) (40%). Students who have more than 5 absences for the class will not be eligible to take the final exam and be automatically scored a D. Sleeping, talking during the class is considered as disengaged from class activities and will be disqualified from taking the final exam as well. |
