Course description |
Heat transfer engineering is a basis of energy transport. In this course, heat conduction, fluid flow and convective heat transfer, and heat transfer on a flat plate with forced convection are explained in detail. |
Expected Learning |
Corresponding criteria in the Diploma Policy: See the Curriculum maps. |
Course schedule |
The course is designed as follows: Week 1 Introduction: Reason why you have to study heat transfer Week 2-4 Heat conduction: Governing equation, Coordinate transformation Week 5-6 Heat conduction: One-dimensional steady heat conduction Week 7-8 Heat conduction: Thermal contact resistance, Two-dimensional steady heat coduction Week 9-11 Heat conduction: Overall heat transmission, Fin, Unsteady heat conduction Week 12 Fluid flow and convective heat transfer Week 13-15 Heat transfer on a flot plate with laminar forced convection, examination |
Prerequisites |
Knowledge of fundamental mathematics and physics is required. It is assumed that "Thermal Engineering I" is already finished. This course leads to "Heat Transfer II" and "Energy Conversion Engineering." |
