Course description
After completion of the Mechanics I, this course will address various mechanical behaviors based on Newton’s laws of motion. The topics covered are two-dimensional translational motion of a particle like orbital motions of the planets, and translational/rotational motions of a rigid body. In addition to the classical mechanics, the students will learn the basic concept underlying the analytical mechanics.
Expected Learning
Learners who successfully complete this course will be able to:
(1) Understand the concept of angular momentum and model/describe the orbital motion of a particle.
(2) Model/describe translational/rotational motions of a rigid body.
(3) Understand the basic concept of the analytical mechanics.
Corresponding criteria in the Diploma Policy: See the Curriculum maps.
