Course description |
All the materials around us is composed of large number of very small compounds. The thermodynamics can describe such very complicated system by only small number of physical parameters. In this lecture concept of the thermodynamics and its real usage through concrete examples. |
Expected Learning |
1)Students understand that thermodynamic phenomena can be described by using small number of macroscopic physical parameters. 2Students understand the concept of heat, work, energy, entropy. 3)Students can discuss about the direction of the change. |
Course schedule |
1.Preparation to study thermodynamics 2.The first law 3. specific heat 4.The second law and engine 5.transformation of the heat 6.entropy 7.free energy 8.Some examples using thermodynamic functions 9.Thermally Equilibrium and stability 10.phase and phase transition 11.van der walls equation 12.2nd order phase transition and Landau theory 13.open system and chemical potential 14.Some basics in crystal growth 15.summary |
