Course description |
Building on the writing skills and knowledge learned in the English writing courses, this class aims to advance students’ writing skills in Japanese. Students will learn how to shape their arguments into essays (2000-4000 letters) through the process of outlining ideas, creating essay drafts, and revising the texts into stronger arguments. |
Expected Learning |
1) Students should understand parts of a Japanese essay and learn to make the introduction to attract readers’ interest, the body to develop specific ideas, and the conclusion to wrap up the entire argument. Thus, they should be able to convey their ideas as cohesive essays. 2) Students should be able to coherently develop their arguments in Japanese with logical consistency through the process to repeatedly revising and editing their essay drafts.
