Objective: The students are expected to obtain the experimental skills, the ability of performing profoundly investigation and discussion on the themes related to life science and biotechnology.
Overview: This course will be performed by each corresponding laboratory in the form of seminar.
Expected Learning
Course schedule
Saito Laboratory: The students will acquire basic knowledge and skills about molecular biology, tissue engineering and electrochemistry.
Nakazawa Laboratory: The students will acquire basic knowledge and skills about NMR analysis, peptide synthesis and development of silk-based medical materials.
Kuroda Laboratory: The students will acquire basic skills about the construction and analysis of database, genetic recombination technology and structural and analysis of spectrophotometric analysis.
Ozeki and Yamada Laboratory: The students will acquire skills and knowledge to seek the enzymes involved in plant secondary metabolisms, functional analysis of transcription modulating factor, transfer mechanism analysis of transposon and molecular biological analysis of the genes based on the functin of the proteins related to salt-tolerance phenotype of the halophyte.
Miyaura and Inada Laboratory: The students will acquire skills about tissue culture, gene analyses, molecular pathological investigation using gene targeted mice and disease models on mice. The students will carry out investigation and research of refractory diseases for clinical drug development such as Cancer, Osteoporosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Periodonititis.
Ohta Laboratory: The students will acquire skills of live-imaging technique by using optical microscope. And the student will make analyze the function of organelle with a high degree of accuracy.
Tanaka, Arakaki and Yoshino Laboratory: The student should present a recent paper closely related to their research themes and summarize the content in a report once every two weeks. The students will be evaluated by their understanding of the research background, performance presentation and capability to answer the questions scientifically.
Ohno Laboratory / Nakamura Laboratory: The students will expect to acquire basic analytical skills related to physical property assessment of synthetic materials.
Sode and Tsugawa Laboratory / Ikebukuro Laboratory: The students will acquire basic skills related to protein engineering such as cultivation of microorganisms, separation and refinement technologies of biological molecules and functional analysis of biological molecules by spectrographic and electrochemical techniques.
Kawano Laboratory: The students will acquire basic knowledge and skills of microfabrication, MEMS and microfluidic system and application to development of biomaterials. Especially, the students will develop the biomimetic-biosensor, DNA computer and drug based on artificial cell membrane and membrane protein.
Nagasawa Laboratory: The students will expect to acquire as follows: 1) Chemical synthesis of low-molecular compound involved in life phenomena. 2) Development of novel techniques to synthesize the bioactive low-molecular compounds.
Sakurai Laboratory: The students will expect to acquire the basic experimental skills of the structural analysis, bioactive evaluation and organic synthesis of biological molecules derivatives.
Yohda, Odaka and Noguchi Laboratory: The students will expect to acquire the basic experimental skills and will develop the novel experimental techniques about the biological science.
Machida, Nakamura and Nakamura Laboratory: Students will expect to acquire as follows: Examination of cells under a microscope, mechanical analysis under an atom force microscope, analytical operation of the fluorescence spectrophotometer and LC/MS and cell culture of human or animal origin.
