Course description |
Energy network engineering is indispensable to our life and an industrial activity. In this course, lectures are given related to energy network engineering which harmonized with environment about the following subjects aiming at construction on the irreplaceable earth. Energy network situation in Japan and in the world, the situation picture of the energy network in today's and future, power deregulation, a complete level of voltages in entire power system in Japan from the generation to the demand, present measure situation about energy saving in residential, commercial(including business-use building) and industrial sectors, application of the intelligent technique to energy network engineering, renewable energies including wind and solar power, and finally micro grids and smart grids. This lecture is based on the business experience of the Professor Nagasaka when he served at a Canadian University. The nature of this subject was said to be the most important task of power companies around the world, on energy and demand forecasting. In this lecture all practical experiences including break-through-finding are taken into examples and practices and taught in the classroom. These kinds of actual practices are not mentioned in any textbooks, so the students are eagerly benefited from this session. |

Course schedule |
The energy network which plays an important role in supplying good quality of power (stable and reliable) is regarded as a large-scale system which consists of power generation transmission, substations and distribution equipment. In this course we study and consider problems in entire of this large-scale network. Our aim is to understand the basic characteristics and structure of an energy network, and study the planning and operation and control of this huge systems. This course consists of the following contents. (1) Planning and operation of energy network (2) Energy network elements and structure (3) Characteristics and features of energy network (4) Mathematical model of energy network (5) Outline of network planning, operation, and control (6) Economy load dispatching of power generation equipments, (7) Active power and frequency control (8) Voltage and reactive power control (9) Network security and reliability analysis (10) Energy load forecasting and supply-demand balance planning (11) Power deregulation (12) Wind power energy (13) Application of intelligent methods (such as artificial neural netwoks) in energy network (14) Distributed energy resources and micro grid (15) Energies and environment harmony |
