Course description |
A number of elements such as C, H, O, N, P, S not only consists of body of organisms but are the constituents of the atmosphere. Biogeochemical cycle of these elements realizes the earth's environment, while its alteration results in various environmental problems. This course learns such a relationship between biogeochemical cycles and environmental issues, and how such a biogeochemical cycling is characterized. |

Course schedule |
Specifically, the following contents are planned. - Ecosystem acidification - Eutrophication problems - Nitrogen saturation - River continuum concept - Ecosystems in the world - The role of soil animals for forest ecosystems - Aquatic organisms - Cycle of rock - The relationship between topography and biogeochemical cycles - Chemical properties of soil - Biogeochemical behaviors under the reductive environment - Structure of the earth and elements - The characteristic of nitrogen cycle in terrestrial ecosystems - The cycle of bioelements in the ocean - Why are nitrogen and phosphorus apt to be a limiting factor? - The storage of carbon and atmospheric oxygen - Making a field museum in country side forest watershed |
