Course description |
This course aims at understanding the concept of ubiquitous computing and its core technologies, so that the students can apply to address issues in real world. |
Expected Learning |
- Can explain the concept of ubiquitous computing - Can explain a novel input and outpu devices - Can explain context-awareness technologies that can be realized by sensor and recognition system - Can explain the method of designing human-centric systems - Can understand research papers regarding ubiquitous computing and explain the research trends This class falls under the Department of Engineering Diploma Policy (A). |
Course schedule |
In this lecture, concepts and technologies related to ubiquitous computing are explained through examples of previous research. Students are assigned tasks including paper reading and system design. The result of paper reading, as well as system design exercise, is presented in the class. Generally as follows, but may change during the class depending the progress and the number of studens. 1. Basics of ubiquitous computing 2. Context-aware computing (1) 3. Context-aware computing (2) 4. Context recognition (1): activity context 5. Context recognition (2): location context 6. Application of ubiquitous computing (1): AR/MR, Tangible User Interfaces 7. Application of ubiquitous computing (2): smart objects 8. Application of ubiquitous computing (3): persuasive technologies 9. Survey of research trends in ubiquitous computing (1) --- presentation from students 10. Survey of research trends in ubiquitous computing (2) --- presentation from students 11. Survey of research trends in ubiquitous computing (3) --- presentation from students 12. Ubiquitous computing system design (1) --- presentation from students 13. Ubiquitous computing system design (2) --- presentation from students 14.
