Course description
This course is for continuing to further develop communication skills with a focus on critical review of peer-reviewed research articles with an aim to better improve your ability to successfully write and publish your own articles, in addition to better preparing research posters and oral presentations for participation in workshops, symposiums and conferences. Classes are conducted with a combination of group sessions and individual sessions.
Expected Learning
Objectives:
・ Students should participate in presenting and discussions of peer-reviewed journal articles.
・ Students should develop the ability to listen actively and express their ideas and opinions using more advanced communication skills.
・ Students should be able to understand and build on other conversations with more fluency.
・ Students should further develop their reading, writing and presenting skills needed in a variety of academic contexts.
・ Students should hone skills in communicating both orally and in writing about their research and academic domain.
・ Students should further develop the ability to critically review research design, research methodology and the interpretation of scientific results.

Prerequisites
This course carries 1 credit. In addition to 30 hours that students spend in the class, they are recommended to prepare for, and review, the classes using the class materials, spending the standard amount of time as specified by the university for each class. Students must attend at least 2/3 of a course in order to receive credit for that course. If students do not fully attend the class for two times, it should be counted as one time of absence.

This course involves a variety of activities which focus on task based learning. You will be asked at times to access materials from the Internet, print out materials, and bring them to class. You will be asked to submit assignments and give presentations - submission dates will be give to you in class.
